first day at kids college..
So the first day was good, I think. Better as the day went on. Definitely.
Everybody got started late [all the classes], but it’s okay. My first class and I went to our room.. it was still locked.. [I found out at lunch that my friend Carol's room was locked too]. But thankfully, it’s the first week of the summer semester in addition to this week being Kids College. So there was a table just around the corner from our room for anyone who needed directions or a map or whatever, and some of the maintenance guys were sitting there. I’ve made friends with a bunch of the maintenance guys, so one of them just came and unlocked the door for me. Definitely not the first time for that!
Once we got into the room.. we couldn’t get on the computers! Aaaaaaaaaahh.. this is a computer class. We kinda need them. Sean, the guy in charge, had told me he *thought* I could probably get on them with username and password we’ve always had, but the school has changed all that sort of thing just recently.. so.. I had to go talk with him, and he actually gave me his own login info. We got login info for the class around lunch time, so we’re good for all of that now.
So anyway, you should go check out our blog: http://edisonkids.wordpress.com. Today we were looking up animals and such from Nicaragua. I’m right at this moment finishing up my papers to hand out to the kids tomorrow. I think we’re doing Ghana. Unless I change my mind.. We’ll see..

in two weeks..
Kids College starts two weeks from today.
Am I excited?
Yes.
Am I at least a little bit nervous?
Absolutely.
I am working on getting together the details of what I’m going to do with the kids. Which includes figuring out what sites to use.
I’m addicted to google, so that’s a given. Google has everything. Maps included. And.. since the theme is “Around the World”.. I think maps are essential.
I was playing tonight with the “my maps” feature on google. I officially love it.
You can embed it in your page and everything. [Like google wouldn't have that option on a personalized map...]
I think the maps, in cooperation with blogs, will be a good interactive way to record their findings on each country. We’re going to have a sort of scavenger hunt with questions for the kids to find answers to.
